It had been an unsatisfactory season so far for the New York Yankees, who have been languishing in the AL East for months now. Although with a 5-game winning streak, they changed the surrounding narrative. But that has taken a shock because of the latest 10-3 loss against the Detroit Tigers. Because of this, the attention was more on the pitching, which was the primary reason for the loss. And given that Carlos Rodon was the starting pitcher for the day, he failed badly and faced the fan’s anger. But, unintentionally, the pitcher had predicted this before his first start.
Notably, after the Yankees signed Rodon on a $162 million deal they expected him to shine from the start. But the story has been different for him as he has not given a moment for fans to cheer and has been on the negative side for his on-field antics. And now, from the resurfaced statement, the 30-Year-Old was aware of this situation before his first game for the Yankees. But he still failed to correct his course, giving another reason for fans to criticize him.

The New York Yankees are a team that has seen many players come and go. But a few, even after all the success, have failed to get on the good books of the fans. One was Randy Johnson, who won 17 games each season of his stay at the Yankees. But his first impression, starting from his signing, made him a villain. And it seems Carlos Rodon is on the same line as his prediction is coming true.
Carlos Rodon was booed tonight and it’s worth bringing his quote from February after signing with the Yankees:
“Randy Johnson won 17 games two years in a row with the Yankees – how often does that happen anymore? – but the only thing people can remember is him not making a good… pic.twitter.com/zmKrv5weOI

According to a tweet from Joe Randazzo, Rodon predicted the similarities between him and Randy Johnson. He said, “Honestly, I could see myself in the same situation as Randy. I’m a fiery dude, like him. But I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I just don’t want people to have that lasting impression of me.”
His statement seems to have come true, as he faced the fans’ anger and boos after his latest outing. He pitched for 3.2 innings and claimed only four strikeouts while finishing with an ERA of 7.
Post the game, Rodon explained his reasoning of the game, “Stuff was a little down. Just a little all over the place and they barreled a lot of balls and I just got my a** whooped. That’s pretty much it.”
As Rodon did not even pitch half of the game and conceded most of the runs, fans were unhappy. And while reacting to his statement from the past have shared their pain in the open.
Fans React to Rodon’s Past as His Poor Form Continues to Hurt the Team

A fan criticized the Yankees’ move for Rodon.
Pretty funny this is the guy Hal “fought for” not any other big name that could helped but an injury prone guy with 2 pitches

Fans also call it Cashman’s mistake.
Yea, Rodon is horrible and just not like able. It would be great if he could have a 4 ERA. He’s pathetic and washed. Another Cashman special.

A similar response from another fan

It seems fans are not really happy with Rodon and his signing, notably, so, his ERA of 6.60 and a 2-5 win-loss record being the reason behind it. However, given that many games are still left in the season, will Rodon be able to redeem himself and prove management’s faith in him true? Let us know your take in the comments below.
