New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter is undeniably one of the greatest players in MLB history. It’s been eight years since Jeter retired from the game. However, even though Jeter does not play the game anymore, at times, the Yankees legend has also received some harsh criticism for his gameplay. He has been the target of scrutiny in the years that he played, and also after getting retired. Ex-Astros shortstop Carlos Correa‘s scrutiny towards him is one such example of the criticisms he faced.
Recently, after Correa’s move to the New York Mets, a video of Jeter’s reaction to Correa’s criticism resurfaced. And baseball fans could not keep their calm at what the Mets shortstop said about Jeter.
What did the fans say about the Yankees’ former captain, Derek Jeter?

Soon after winning his first Golden Glove in MLB 2021 season, Correa, in his interview, said that Derek Jeter did not deserve any of the five Golden Gloves he won during his two-decade-long career. After this, baseball fans reminded Correa of his admission of cheating during the 2017 World Series.
While reacting to the resurfaced video, they also spoke about how Correa speaking about Jeter might be the reason the Yankees didn’t go after him in the free agency this year. Additionally, they applauded Jeter’s response to Correa’s criticism.
Here’s how fans reacted to the whole incident:
The Captain been back in The BX more times in one year than the last 8 years since he retired. You saw him up there with the new Captain yesterday. Imagine the Yankees introducing Carlos Correa? Never pic.twitter.com/fo3IZYL9nw

Carlos might really believe that’s true idk, regardless it was a classless thing to say. It’s the kind of thing A-Rod would do.

So glad Yanks didn’t go after Correa in free agency. Besides being a cheater he disrespected Jeter .

How they allowed Correa to be a commentator for the World Series is mind blowing. Too soon. His crime wasn’t a little performance hormone. Flat out cheated and helped take away mvp for Judge and a World Series appearance as well for entire team, then admitted it

This is so interesting in that Derek Jeter does not like Cashman. Jeter loves the Yankees and it’s great seeing him around again. I would prefer Jeter as a GM. But Cashman has a contract.

Absolutely never. A self-proclaimed cheater has no spot on the roster

Even if you are thinking it don't say it. Correa and the young players need to keep the game about respect to those that played before them. No need to ever make a comment like that. Like Jeter said how did his name get brought up at all.

Jeter is a legend he doesn't have time for Carlos Correa silly comments.

That comment from Correa doesn’t warrant a response . I’m a lifelong Red Sox fan , I always admired Jeter , his leadership, talent, grit and professionalism . He’s a Hall of Famer hands down . The best shortstop of his generation with many talented shortstops .

The fans reminded Correa of his cheating multiple times while being glad he is not on the Yankees roster for the upcoming season. And in the comments of the video when it originally got posted, people reminded Correa and other players to respect the people who played before them and not comment on anything about it.
What was Jeter’s response to Correa’s comments about him?
In Miami last year, in one of his interviews, the former shortstop was asked about his thoughts towards Correa’s comments. Keeping his cool, Jeter simply said that he didn’t think much about it. According to him, Correa’s comments didn’t even warrant a response, and he didn’t know how his name even came up during his (Correa’s) interview.
