The Mets have already been turning heads across the MLB community through their estimated $421 million payroll. They are indeed making a noteworthy attempt to bolster their team for the upcoming seasons. After the shocking wildcard round exit, the Mets received another jolt by losing the enigmatic Jacob deGrom. But the Mets have recuperated by filling up the void through their next signings.

The high-class recruits included the legendary Justin Verlander and Japanese baseball superstar, Kodai Senga. While also re-signing Brandon Nimmo at the same time. Therefore, the Mets were also showing a keen interest in the swashbuckling Correa, who was a free-agent player back then. Correa got dreamt of as the new third baseman, fielding alongside shortstop Francisco Lindor by Cohen.

However, after signing up with the Giants, Correa can thus continue fielding in his original position as a shortstop. Famous MLB columnist Jon Heyman posted the news on his Twitter account, quoting, “Mets owner Steve Cohen in NY Post exclusive explains why he tried for Carlos Correa (for about $300M). “It would have given us a great ball team. I made a commitment to fans. If it means I have to spend money to fulfill that commitment, so be it.”

Meanwhile, speaking about Correa to the New York Post, a disappointed Cohen said, We thought maybe he might fall to us. He’s a great leader and a good guy. He could play third base. And he’s a great defender. We got there late.”

Some words from the glamorous shortstop Carlos Correa:

Correa, a powerful slugger and accurate fielder in equal amounts, gained prominence since playing for the Houston Astros. He came into the limelight this year, after suddenly dropping out of his $35.1 million worth three-year term contract with the Minnesota Twins. But now he has signed up a lucrative contract with the Giants, after having rejected the franchise last year.

Speaking on his Giants’ contract, a jubilant Correa said, “I go to the mall and I go to the Dior store and I want something, I get it. I ask how much it costs and I buy it. So if you really want something, you just go get it. I’m the product here, and if they want my product, they’ve just got to come get it.”
