The Yankees ended in a series loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday but the fanbase chose to seek solace in better times. Derek Jeter was a titan when at the New York Yankees. Monikered Captain Clutch for a reason, the 5x Golden Glove winner never failed to put up his hand when it mattered most. And thanks to televised sport, the moments that have endeared him to fans have been captured for the generations to come.

In a memory of an era now gone, the fans reminisced to 11 years ago. A time when Aaron Judge was still playing college ball and while not in the best stretch of form, the Yankees were still a part of the winning culture.

The clip shows the former rookie of the year winner squaring up to the former Blue Jays rotation pitcher Jameson at the bottom of the ninth with all the chips down. Facing an 0-1 count at the plate, Jeter connects with a middle-middle fastball to pop a homerun straight past the center field wall.

The hit is all the more significant on the day as it allows the Yankees a chance to make their way back to the game. A chance that they have been seeking all of 2023. But while not as a batter anymore, Jeter could be set to return hope to the Bronx.

According to speculation across the board, the star could be set to return to the iconic Pinstripes with the chance to turn around the franchise’s fortunes.

No doubt the star will be yearning for a chance to earn back his reputation which may have seen a hit after an unsuccessful stint with the Miami Marlins and what better place to do it than the Stadium he called home for more than 18 years in New York?
