New York Yankees are the one team that has had a list of legends since the very beginning. Be it Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Joe DiMaggio during the early eras of baseball, or Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, or a couple of others in the modern era, all these players made the Yankees clubhouse special.
The camaraderie between the players was seen countless times. Once Yankees 90s superstars, precisely the core 4, Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte were featured for an interview. The bromance between them was so much visible that they were seen trolling each other during the interview.

When Derek Jeter Mocked Mariano Rivera
Famously regarded as the Core Four, Jeter, Rivera, Posada, and Pettitte were signed by the Yankees in a span of three years in the 1990s, and they went on to play for the Yankees for decades. As published in Vault, all four of them once sat down for an interview and talked about their bond as teammates and the success of the team, but during a segment, the interviewer asked them about their future plans and how many years they see themselves playing.

To this, Rivera replied, “I don’t think so. I mean, how many times have I retired?” Jeter took no time and said, “He retires every other year.” Rivera further adds, “Every contract I think, Well, this is it for me.” To this, Jeter points at Pettitte and says, “Him too.” Well, they would have made fun of each other, but they went on to play 17 years together, and they spent most of their adulthood together as players with the Yankees.

The Brilliance of Core Four and Their Ever-Lasting Legacy
All of them made their debut in 1995 in the major league, played for years like champions, and achieved so much individually and as a team. When that interview was published, they already were champions. They won 11 division titles, five world championships, and seven American League pennants in 27 all-star selections.
In careers spanning from 1990 to 2000, until they all retired, they had won four World Series championships. Jeter, Posada, and Rivera played for 17 years together from 1995 to 2011, while Pettitte missed a few years when he started playing for the Houston Astros and returned to the Yankees in 2007. Posada retired in 2011, Pettitte and Rivera rested their kits in 2013, and Jeter bid adieu to his decorated career in 2014.
