New York baseball is going through a phase. After 15 long years, the New York Yankees finally made it to the last stage of October but didn’t win. It was still a huge year for the captain, who, since joining the Yankees in 2016, has been a one-man wrecking crew. Aaron Judge‘s many personal accolades prove this – a multiple-time all-star, a two-time AL MVP, a two-time Silver Slugger winner, and whatnot. But even a GOAT debate candidate with staggering numbers can come under scrutiny.
In the 2024 season, Judge had a solid average of .322 and finished on top of the MLB table for home runs and RBIs. He had a massive 58 home runs and 144 RBIs to his name. With an OPS of 1.159, the highest of any player in the 2024 season and was only the 24th (or 25th if you count Shohei Ohtaniin the NL) unanimous MVP winner.
But all of this went in vain, as the Yankees made it to the World Series and were not able to bring it back home since Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez’s era. This has led some fans to bring out their frustration on social media after a recent post by MLB on X.

Fans out their frustration after a poor postseason by Aaron Judge
Although Aaron Judge had a solid regular season in 2024, his postseason was an absolute disaster. His unforgettable blunders in the batter’s box were nothing to boast about abd became the turning point of the 2024 World Series, a costly mistake that left Bronx fans stunned. The Dodgers capitalized on the error, dominating the series 4-1 and leaving no doubt about their superiority. With the latest post put out by MLB on X, the fans have made their feeling known.
The page posted a slugging percentage leaderboard of the 2020s, with Aaron Judge at the top of the list. He had a massive slugging percentage of .635 with second being Shohei Ohtani with .587. The caption read, “Aaron Judge has done nothing but MASH the ball in the 2020s”. Showing how good the Yankee player has been from the start of this decade. But many fans think this stat is of no use.
There were comments under this post saying “But in the playoffs can’t swat a fly if it was right in front of him”, “You would hope so considering his size and athleticism. But he crashed and burned in the playoffs this past season. It was not good when they needed him the most. Hopefully he can change that.”
One was plain, “And no world series to show for it”. The captain’s individual performances have been everything to write home about but the Commissioner’s Trophy is a must tool to gauge any successful player for fans.
The jabs were mainly the performance of Judge in the postseason where his form takes a nose dive. Aaron Judge’s average fell to .184 in 14 games in the 2024 postseason. This is one of the lowest averages in the 2024 postseason.
He only had 9 hits with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs in the whole of the 2024 postseason. But what was worse was his slugging percentage which was a solid .701 in the regular season, fell to .408 in the postseason. This has led fans to not even consider this stat.

There was another fan who said, “Good at catching them too”. This is a sarcastic comment about the horrible fumble by Aaron Judge in the World Series. In an important situation in the World Series with Dodgers only required to win one game. This fumble happened in Game 5 of the 2024 World Series. This was the start of a series of mistakes by the Yankees that led to the Dodgers scoring 5 runs in the innings and winning the World Series.
Another mocked, “Does he have any RINGS 🤭💙” because while regular season performance is to be praised, for most it means nothing if it can’t be backed up in October.

Can the Yankees come back stronger in 2025? They will be Juan Soto-less, who made a powerful duo with Judge last year, so it’s anyone’s guess how they fare now.
