The Minnesota Twins beat the Yankees in their most recent game. By doing so, they even won the season series, a feat that they have not achieved since 2001. Twins All-Star, Byron Buxton, was shocked upon learning about the series drought, and having broken it. When asked about it, he was astonished and said that he was 6 years old the last time the Twins beat the Yankees in a season series. Talkin’ Baseball shared a video of Buxton’s reaction on Twitter.

In the video, Buxton seemed shocked and said, “That was what? 21? 22 years? I was six. That’s the last time we won?” He then recovered and further elaborated saying, “I don’t know, you know, it’s kinda like having a monkey on the back. I know we talk about it a lot over the past few years, about you know, go to Yankees Stadium, play the Yankees. And it feels a lot like that monkey’s off the back for sure now.”

This was a massive game for both sides. The Twins broke a series drought that lasted 22 years and the Yankees lost a series that they have won for the last 21 years. The Bronx Bombers are in serious trouble as they struggle to win games. But there is a big reason for their current bad form.

The Yankees are struggling offensively

The New York Yankees have lost 4 of their last 5 games and a big reason for it is their stagnant offense. The team has been unable to put runs onto the board, with some of their stars struggling. Furthermore, Giancarlo Stanton is injured, which has created a hole in their batting lineup. It is integral that they find a way to put some runs on the board or their losing form could turn into a brutal losing streak.
