But would you ever perceive Derek Jeter as one for superstition? The very idea of Jeter being superstitious sounds made up and untrue. But back in the day, Jeter himself revealed that there was one accessory that he never removed, the reason for which tied back to his own form of superstition.

In a video uploaded by Kimmie Smith on her YouTube handle in 2012 as Avon’s Brand Ambassador, Derek Jeter made a shocking, uncharacteristic revelation about jewelry which he never removed crediting a superstitious belief and attachment to the jewelry.

On being asked the question, “What accessory do you love wearing when you’re out for the night?” Jeter spoke about his black diamond chain. He revealed that it was a chain he wore all the time, and every day. However, the former Pinstripes leader, known for his diplomacy, shied away from mentioning who gave him this special chain.

The five-time World Champion, who made some questionable fashion choices in his young days, said, “A signature piece of jewelry that I wear… I’ve been wearing this chain, it was a gift to me, it’s a black diamond chain that I’ve been wearing for quite some time. I have it on every day and I think that’s probably the only thing that I wear every single day.”

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher, Chris Archer, in an interview with Bleacher Report, said, “Derek Jeter always wore a nice black diamond chain, but he just kept it tucked in.”

Jeter’s shot into the world of fragrances

In 2006, Derek Jeter attempted a dive into the world of fragrances when signing up with Avon Products Inc. as their brand icon for a men’s vertical called ‘Driven’.

While signing the deal with Avon, Jeter spoke about the strict and clean-cut rules every Yankee player had to adhere to, and how the vision of Avon’s Driven complimented that.
