New York Yankees fans are wondering, yet again, why Brian Cashman occupies the position of general manager year after year. Why Aaron Boone leads the roster during every game. Perhaps most importantly, why Hal Steinbrenner still calls himself the majority owner. As has been evidenced by each of their decisions in recent years, none can bring stars to the Bronx. The biggest example is Bryce Harper.
The Philadelphia Phillies superstar has been a hitting wonder in Philly, leading the team to two straight postseason runs after a long drought. Not only has he been instrumental in the Phillies’ progress, but he has also embraced the role of their slugger wholeheartedly. As many know, however, Harper had always wanted to play in Pinstripes. After a recent reminder, Bronx fans are once again irked with the front office.

When Bryce Harper hit free agency, no longer under a Washington Nationals contract, he wanted to play for the Yankees. Everyone in the league knew the slugger’s first choice was the Bronx, and he was talented enough to demand it. But what did Brian Cashman do? He shut down rumors as fast as they arose, assuring the media he was not looking for another outfielder. Harper didn’t even receive a call and instead went to win hearts in Philly.
Bryce Harper: “I grew up a Yankee fan my whole life everybody knew that, I grew up watching some really good Yankee teams…Bernie, Jeter, Posada, I loved those teams”

After clinching the second straight NLCS spot yesterday, the DH sat down for an interview with the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, where he once again stated his love for the Yankees. “I grew up a Yankee fan my whole life, everybody knew that, I grew up watching some really good Yankee teams…Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, I loved those teams.”
Every Yankees fan uttered a sigh of disappointment after hearing those words. Looking at the sad state of what the team is today, it couldn’t have been a more regretful decision. Even if the current situation had been different and the Bombers had been 0n a good run, it wouldn’t have hurt to have another talented star on the team.
Bronx Fans Lament Brian Cashman’s Choices
Not given a chance to play with the dream team of his childhood, Harper has seemingly decided to let it go. Now, he’s a true Philly, and as he stated in the same interview, he cannot imagine not playing for the City of Brotherly Love.

One lashed out against Cashman.
Cashman is a bottom 10 gm in sports. If anyone thinks he’s good they’re on drugs

Another one referred to the disastrous decision to sign Aaron Hicks, who severely underperformed and was ultimately let go.

Another praised Harper for not brushing it off.
what makes this worse is he doesn’t even brush it off, he just reminisces about all the players he loved. Hal and Cashman should be under a jail

One referred to Mike Trout, who also loved the Pinstripes growing up, but today plays with the LA Angels.
This franchise has two generations of players that grew up watching The 90's teams & fell in love with baseball because of them & they refuse to take advantage of it. I hate them.

How different might the team look if their front office was more capable? Fans will probably never know.
