The Alex Bregman-Rafael Devers 3B saga continues! And that’s too much, it seems, for the Red Sox right now. Even after putting some rumors under the covers about the disagreement between Bregman and Devers, it doesn’t seem that the tussle will end soon. Ever since the Astros’ All-Star joined the Boston Red Sox for a three-year, $120 million contract, it’s been all talk about where he’s going to play and where Devers goes. Amid these speculations, Bryce Harper has made a surprising revelation, choosing Bregman over Devers at third base. Sounds fair?

While the Red Sox’s current third baseman, Rafael Devers, finds his way to reclaim his usual third base spot, Alex Bregman’s arrival comes as a major point of discussion for many. It all depends on how Alex Cora, the Red Sox’s manager, navigates the clubhouse dynamic and does what’s best for the team. Now, surprisingly, MLB insider Luke Arcaini shared a post on February 23, citing how Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper chooses Bregman over Devers. Harper tried to make a 162-0 team, using filters—just as the name of Boston pops out—he didn’t even take a second to say “Bregman third.”

So, that’s fair, given the mettle Alex Bregman has, and that’s visible in his 2024 record—.260 averages, 26 home runs, 75 RBIs, and .768 OPS. What more does one need? Even in 2025, he has an average of 1.000, 2 RBIs, 3.333 OPS, and one home run already, and that’s just the beginning. Isn’t it? Well, Devers also had a batting average of .272, 83 RBIs, 87 runs in 138 games, and scored 28 homers in 2024. Going by comparison, no one seems to be much ahead, but the skills Bregman brings to the table are nothing short of extraordinary. So, what’s going to happen after all?

Alex Bregman hopes to play anywhere the team wants him to play

The former Houston Astros Gold Glove winner and All-Star Bregman has somewhat cleared the air amid the ongoing Alex Bregman-Rafael Devers drama. He dismissed any disagreement with Rafael Devers and confirmed their discussions revolved entirely around winning the games for the Boston Red Sox. But that’s not all!
