The Lone Star State is getting ready to tango. The Houston Astros will battle the Texas Rangers in a much-awaited ALCS match-up. For the reigning World Series champs, it’s the seventh straight ALCS run in a tremendous era of baseball. But on the other hand, it’s a historic postseason run for the team with no Fall Classic victories in franchise history. What’s even more exciting for some is that it will also be a battle of veteran managers.

The front office is not usually a well-liked team department by fans. They would much rather see different decisions being made, but for the luckier ones, like Dusty Baker and Bruce Bochy, the fanbase is on their side. Each is in their 26th season of managing a team and has seen much October success. What will this latest clash result in?

In the realm of October match-ups, motivation is seldom a requirement, as the postseason is a time when everyone eagerly tunes in to support their favorite team. Baseball fans are more than hyped to watch the Astros take on the Rangers in a playoff environment. While the regular season went Houston’s way, one may never know how the postseason could end up. But more than the players, there are the veteran skippers.

Both Bruce Bochy and Dusty Baker were accomplished players in their active days. When they each decided to take up managing, many were excited about this new role. Fast forward to 2023, Bochy and Baker have clashed against each other at least 200 times, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

A few of them have been October clashes as well – Bochy’s SF Giants won against Baker’s Cincinnati Reds in the 2012 NLDS. Eleven years later, it’s a repeat performance in the AL. They are just the fourth managerial duo with a postseason matchup after a decade of their most recent one. Needless to say, fans are looking forward to this legendary match-up.

Baseball Fans Are Excited to See Who Wins

It’s the match-up for the ages. Will the Astros defend their World Series title or lose out in the Championship Series? Will the Rangers, for the first time in franchise history, win a Fall Classic?
