Having dominated Major League Baseball for decades, the New York Yankees are one of the most successful teams in the entire league. Their strong setup also played a crucial role in all the success during the late 90s and early 2000s. Being the general manager, Brian Cashman, who oversaw many signings, had a critical role in the glory days.

It happened during Cashman’s intern days at the Yankees. He had a tough time on the road. This happened when Cashman was called to drive Boss Steinbrenner to a haircut in the absence of the drivers. He shared that the assistant manager advised him to use a shorter route. His decision to follow the advice of Peter Jameson put Cashman in a difficult position.
Cashman recalled, ” So I get in the car, the boss gets in the back seat. I get on the dig, and instead of going straight to the FDRI start pulling off at the Willis Ave. bridge exit. And he was right away, he says in the back seat he’s, like hey where you going? And I said, I got a quicker way, and he goes, oh OK we’ll see.”
He then explains that the whole idea of changing the route backfired. Brian said the bridge he was supposed to take was closed for repairs. It put him under fire from the boss. He added, “And he starts railing at me from the backseat. I mean, as loud and as you could possibly get me the blank out of here. Take me to the Blanken Subway, turn back, and get me back to Yankee Stadium. You banked. I mean, he’s killing as loud as.”
