The deal will pay the southpaw $25 million in 2024 and also includes a vesting option for the season of 2025. The agreement was contingent upon a successful physical examination, a source anonymously spoke to the Associated Press. It further came to light that the 6-foot-6 can secure his option for the following season if he makes at least 10 starts this season.
The 31-year-old ‘Gumby’ started 32 games in consecutively for the Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals last season. He recorded 166 strikeouts and 48 walks in 188.2 innings to go with a 3.20 ERA.

After a midseason trade to the Rangers, he posted a 2.79 ERA over 11 starts. With that, he helped his team make their first postseason appearance since 2016, and eventually brought then the World Series glory.
