Just when fans thought the Atlanta Braves were set for a smooth cruise to October, reality threw a nasty curveball. With chaos swirling behind the scenes and bodies dropping faster than ticket prices in a losing streak, Atlanta’s dugout suddenly looks more like a rehab ward. Toss in a scandalous subplot worthy of a late-night docuseries, and voilà—Ronald Acuña Jr. headlines a season already teetering on the edge.
The Braves are off to one of the worst starts in baseball history. For a team expected to reach the postseason and cause some upsets, the start of the season has been one to forget. To add to this, one MLB insider revealed a shocking fact that has Braves fans praying right now.
During the Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney podcast, they were discussing the Braves and the start they have had to the 2025 season. That is when Jorge Castillo said, “I just think no one, as history says, no team has ever made the playoffs that starting 0-7. That’s just hard to ignore,”

It is very hard to ignore the way they have lost their seven games. After the first series, it was surprising that the Braves didn’t get a win, but the second series against the Los Angeles Dodgers hit the Braves even harder. Against the Dodgers, the Braves looked to have the upper hand, but they managed to throw the game away in the last few innings.

Castillo also rated their chances of missing the playoffs at 7-8 on a danger scale, saying their season is almost over. He also goes on to say that most of the fans and analysts picked the Braves as one of the top teams to hold the Dodgers back, but after looking at the games against Los Angeles, it is highly unlikely that Atlanta is that team.
If that Dodgers series was a litmus test, the Braves didn’t just fail—they set the paper on fire. What was billed as a heavyweight clash quickly turned into a blooper reel. And now, with playoff hopes already circling the drain in April, Atlanta isn’t chasing October glory—they’re chasing answers. Because if this is what title contention looks like, Braves fans might want a refund on those preseason dreams.

Is trading Sean Murphy for Trevor Story a genius move or a colossal mistake?

This Braves-Red Sox trade idea sounds wild… because it is
Some trade proposals make you pause and think. Others make you check the date to see if it’s April Fool’s. This one? It does both. On paper, it looks like two teams solving problems. In reality, it feels like one team trying to offload theirs. The names involved? Trevor Story. Sean Murphy. Two big contracts, two very different directions—and somehow, someone thinks this makes sense. Let’s unpack the chaos.
This deal right now does not make any sense for the Braves. Murphy remains highly valuable compared to the contract of Story’s contract, making him clearly the better choice for the Braves. While Murphy earns $15 million per year, Story earns around $23 million per year.

Paying that much for Story might be worth it if he could stay fit and play more games, but that’s not the case. In 2023, Story underwent a major surgery to his ulnar collateral ligament which made him miss a significant part of the season. The same continued in 2024 as he missed three-fourths of the season with a fractured glenoid. He did return after 133 games and recorded an RBI, but that doesn’t give any belief about his game.

And that’s the thing—an RBI after 133 games isn’t a comeback, it’s a cameo. The Braves, a team with World Series ambitions, shouldn’t be trading a premium catcher for the hope that Story remembers how to stay healthy. This isn’t MLB The Show; it’s real money, real stakes, and real rosters. Atlanta would be better off writing fiction than buying into this Story.
