It seems like the Atlanta Braves star didn’t have a chance of escaping the terrible fate! Winning the games often demands tough choices and decisions – the Atlanta Braves have wasted no time there. While a known name is back on the roster, the other one will now face a total reset. The reason? Every team looks for outcomes, not just built on skills alone.
Now, the Atlanta Braves have finally come up with a major decision involving a star who was once part of Ronald Acuna Jr’s double standard controversy. The Braves have optioned their outfielder, Jarred Kelenic, to the Triple-A Gwinnett. They have brought back Eddie Rosario while sidelining their pitcher, Zach Thomson, to accommodate him on the roster. Think that’s justified?
Well, going by Kelenic’s performance in the past few games, the Braves might have done it right. Kelenic, facing criticism for not resorting to the fly ball, has been batting at an average of .167 this 2025 season. In addition to being sent out on the bases 23 times, which is unfortunate in and of itself, his poor batting is one of the main causes of his demotion.

And hence, the Braves made such a crucial decision to send him to the minor league while paving the way for the former NLCS MVP, Eddie Rosario, who had a limited span of play with the Dodgers.

But do you know there’s another reason why he may have been demoted?
Remember Ronald Acuna Jr.’s fight with coach Brian Snitker and Jarred Kelenic over the double standard incident? The incident happened on Saturday during the Braves’ game against the Minnesota Twins. After pushing for an unconventional single, Kelenic hoped it would go out of the park, but sadly, it didn’t. But Snitker was unfazed, and Kelenic was quickly moved to second base, which led Acuna Jr to admit that had it been him, he would have been removed from the game.
This blatantly demonstrated the apparent partiality towards certain players and the lack of discipline that Snitker ought to have addressed.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Braves make the right call demoting Kelenic, or is this a double standard at play?

However, it cannot be denied that the Atlanta Braves had a poor start this season. Their decision to bring in Jurickson Profar for a three-year, $42 million contract didn’t pay off, as he was suspended due to testing positive for a PED, which led to a lack of outfield stability. Acuna Jr had been recovering from ACL surgery, and he won’t be back before May 2025. Thus, considering the poor outfield production to be a major issue at present, President Alex Anthopoulos decided to go with some major changes, hoping to create a significant impact in the upcoming games.
How did the Atlanta Braves respond with the major roster moves?

Braves make flurry of moves amid their early-season struggles
The first move is obviously transferring Jarred Kelenic to the Triple-A squad and instead bringing Eddie Rosario into their lineup. Braves beat reporter Mark Bowman revealed the news of signing Rosario in a post on X, where he wrote, “Eddie Rosario has been signed. Rosario and Ian Anderson will reunite with the Braves today and swap 2021 World Series stories.” Rosario previously played for the Braves in 2021, when he had a stellar performance, won the MVP award, posted three home runs, nine RBIs, and batted at an average of .560.
Another major change came in the form of bringing back Ian Anderson, a right-handed pitcher, who waived off his no-trade clause with the Los Angeles Angels. He had a good record in 2022, where he went 10-6 at a 5.00 ERA, with 22 G, 111.2 IP, 97 strikeouts and a 1.51 WHIP. He has been equally impressive in 2025 as well. Anderson went 0-1 at an 11.57 ERA, 7 G, and 9.1 IP and made 8 strikeouts.
However, in order to accommodate him in the roster, the Atlanta Braves have also optioned Davis Daniel to the minors. The reason is fairly obvious. Since the Braves signed Daniel from the Los Angeles Angels in December 2024, he has not appeared in the major leagues.
