New York Mets have been having a tough start to the season this year. It was a happening off-season but the result of training is yet to be seen for the team. After a brutal series defeat at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers, the rather dejected team headed back home for a game against the Marlins. Only for it to be postponed to a day later because of a rainy day prediction. This worked in the Mets’ favor as the players reportedly needed some rest. And Brandon Nimmo and Luis Guillorme, at least, made the most out of a free night.

Nimmo is coming into the season after recovering from a sprained right knee and ankle after spring training. The team’s rough start may have been hard on players, but perhaps it was a much-needed free night after constant travel. Guillorme and Nimmo, avid sports fans, headed to a different game in the city on Thursday.

New York Islanders had a wonderful game on April 6th, as they won against the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-1. Fans cheered for their teams from the stands and among those crowds were these two pro baseballers, lending their support to their city. Nimmo and Guillorme were present at UBS Arena as the Islanders proceeded toward a victory.

The baseball duo posed for a few pictures at the game. Both were sporting the ice hockey team’s jersey and were amped up for the exciting game. Nimmo is apparently a big ice hockey fan because he’s made appearances at them before. The Islanders’ official Twitter even thanked them for cheering for their team!

The New York Mets have been struggling with MLB’s rule changes

It’s no secret that this last series of games was a struggle for the New York team. And it seems like one reason for that was the pitch clock introduced for the upcoming seasons. Most teams have had some trouble with adjusting to rule changes, but it’s only a matter of time before they become the new normal.

Mets manager Buck Showalter told the New York Post a few days ago, “The clock was a little different pace today, and we didn’t make a very good adjustment to it. Everyone is going through some adjustment period. It’s umpires, it’s clock operators, it’s us, it’s the other team we’re playing. You better figure it out because it’s not going away.”
