The red-hot Philadelphia Phillies have been doused. After a rather average season, the team rallied to make it to October and toppled the Atlanta Braves in a huge upset. Coming up against the Arizona Diamondbacks next, no one expected it to be an easy victory for either side. But in a stunning Game 4, the D-Backs are proving their will to fight with the latest NLCS victory.

The Bryce Harper-led team has been a postseason wonder, but in their eagerness to win, mistakes are rearing their ugly head. The Phillies’ star slugger made a huge baserunning error against the Braves in the NLDS, which lost them the game. Similarly, a teammate may have cost yesterday’s game against Arizona.

Brandishing his long beard and longer hair, Brandon Marsh is a fixture in Philly. With his grizzly appearance offering an element of surprise, the slugger usually keeps a cool head during games. Especially given the number of times he wets his head during the day. But in Game 4, he apparently had some beef to settle with the umpire.

Umps have been the talk of the town in recent seasons, with their calls being questioned more and more. The same went for Marsh, who struck out in Game 4 of the NLCS. Facing Paul Sewald of the D-Backs, the Phillies slugger did not perform well and contested it.

It possibly cost the Phillies the game, who lost out 6-5 to the D-Backs. Up until the last inning, it was a close game, but then Craig Kimbrel gave up the game-winning home run to Lourdes Gurriel. As Philadelphia blew its early lead, it brought up Arizona to 2-2 in the NLCS. But baseball fans in general are unhappy over the ump’s antics.

As Phillies Lose, Umpire Call Contested Again

Umpires are only human, so given the tough nature of their job, they’re bound to make mistakes from time to time. This has made many urge the league to bring in robots for the job, and the latest instance was more proof.

While some fans agreed with the Marsh call, many called him out.

Another fan felt he couldn’t blame Marsh for protesting.

One had different views about each ball.

One couldn’t help but mock his appearance.
