It has been an exciting first half of the 2023 season. But now all the focus is on the All-Star game, slated to happen the next month. The first phase of fan voting for the selection process will conclude on 22nd June. Before the second phase begins, MLB released the League leaders’ list of both divisions. The list had expected names of Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, and others. But given every player wants to be part of the list and is in contention of finding a spot, objections are bound to come. This time, the authenticity is in question.

Recently, Brandon Belt shared his criticism by putting a question mark on the authenticity of the selection process. It has come as he trails Shohei Ohtani by over 100k votes.

Bringing up the update to the fans, Talkin’ Baseball wrote, “Brandon Belt is second among AL DHs in All-Star voting, 1,387,257 votes behind Shohei Ohtani. And he’s not happy” Notably, Belt has termed the voting process rigged and that he deserves to be at the top. The Belt’s words read, “Yeah, that’s how you know it’s rigged, I should be number one. And everybody knows I’m a better hitter than he is. Better DH, better team leader. But here we are.” Both of the players’ statistics across seasons certainly give a cleaner picture.

Even if the voting is not taken into the contest, Ohtani edges ahead because of the better ongoing season. Belt has an average of 263 and has scored 4 home runs and 16 RBI. In comparison, Ohtani is the clear winner with 24 home runs and 58 RBIs with an average of approx .300. Apparently, the Belt’s comments have raised the eyebrows of everyone, including the fans.

Baseball fans are finding Belt’s words un-real!

Every player has a right to raise objections, but sometimes they are unbelievable. The same has happened here, as fans can not get over Belts’ comment. Reacting to it, many have called it a poor comment. Few are still not finding it true.
