The first half of MLB 2023 season has ended on a dominant note for the MLB fans. While a few teams came together to showcase their finest moments of cheer, the story for a few teams has taken a rather negative turn. Once dominating the space against their rivals and looking for a bigger prize, these teams are playing like their opposite self. Their performances have dropped, and it seems they are cruising towards the end.

With the postseason inching closer with each passing day, they can not afford this run to continue. But their recent run has broken the faith that they can overcome it. As the battle for the crown has become the battle of survival, let’s look at the concerned teams and analyze their chances of reaching the playoffs.

Battle for Survival in MLB From New York to Boston via Los Angeles

The season has not been great for New York. Both the Mets and Yankees team from the city have failed to do well. Though things looked great for them in the middle of the season, it has not been the same since the start of the second half. While the Yankees are struggling, trailing 12 games behind the top team in the NL East, the Mets are even further behind, sitting 21 games back.

Journalist Anthony DiComo pointed out in his Tweet which read, “The Mets just went winless on a road trip of six or more games for the first time since 2017.”?

It gives an idea of how badly the New York Mets are performing. But they are not alone in it. The Los Angeles Angels are following them with a similar run. After playing great, they are now trailing at 10.5? games behind the table toppers of the AL West. The situation for Shohei Ohtani’s team is worse as per the ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Jeff’s tweet read, “The Los Angeles Angels have now lost six consecutive games after falling 3-2 to Seattle in extra innings. They are 56-57 on the season, seven games back of Toronto for the final American League wild card spot and still have to leapfrog Boston, New York, and Seattle, too. Yikes.”

But the situation is not great for Boston either, which seems to have an advantage. The Red Sox have lost seven of their last eight games, including the 13-1 loss in the latest game vs. Toronto Blue Jays. Jared Carrabis has described a complete state of chaos for the Boston-based team.

Though the situation seems out of control for these teams. Is there any chance, they can over it?

A Tough Test of Survival for Multiple Teams

The latest MLB wild-card standings suggest that the Mets are 7.5 games behind the NL wild-card spot. On the other hand, the Red Sox are five, two less than the Angels. The gap seems reachable, but with other teams improving, it becomes difficult for these to climb up the ladders.

Especially for the Mets, who have traded their two starting pitchers and conceded heavy runs after that. Whereas the Angels are very much dependent on Ohtani and look incomplete. While the Red Sox are inconsistent and lack an aggressive push.

And from the looks of it, the season might end as a big disappointment for these concerned clubs. What are your thoughts on this? Let us your season predictions down below.
