The 2023 MLB season was a memorable one. After the end of a long battle for the championship, it marked new beginnings with the potential of impacting the future. It included the start of free agency for the two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani. Thus, all the eyes shifted to the star player, where he would sign. Although the answer is still not clear, that might change if the latest update is anything to go by.
Notably, the latest report has opened up a wild possibility of Ohtani returning to Los Angeles Angels. This news is a huge shocker for everyone as it was declared the last possibility the moment the 2023 MVP chose the free agency. But what could be the reason behind such a claim? Is there any possibility of it coming to fruition?

It’s been weeks since Shohei Ohtani entered the free agency. But he has still not answered the question about his future. Though many have predicted few possibilities, Ohtani might make them wrong. As per Buster Olney, the reason behind it is his silence.
Only Shohei Ohtani seems to know where he’s going to sign, leaving everyone else to guess. One player agent thinks he’s going back to the Angels, because of money, sure, but also because he is devoted to routine and no organization would offer him more autonomy than the Angels.

Buster shared focusing on the possibility of him re-signing for the Angels, “Only Shohei Ohtani seems to know where he’s going to sign, leaving everyone else to guess. One player agent thinks he’s going back to the Angels, because of money, sure, but also because he is devoted to routine and no organization would offer him more autonomy than the Angels.”
Interestingly, the latest interview with Bob Washinton also pointed towards the same. Notably, when the new Angels manager was asked about Ohtani, he had an answer. Washington shared, “I don’t have much to say about that yet because I don’t want to let anything out of the bag.”

This indicates the Angels are not looking to lose on their star player for years and may battle it out to get him back. But will they be able to do so?
Will Ohtani Give Second Chance to His First MLB Team?
Everyone wants to know where Ohtani will sign in the future. The winter meetings have also added more to this question. However, the answer will take some time to shape up with multiple teams in the race, including the Los Angeles Angels. They are against similar teams which also bid for Ohtani in 2017. But the Angels defeated all to have the player on the squad. Will Ohtani allow them to do it again?
Among the teams I have confirmed are still in for MLB Phenom Shohei Ohtani:
Dodgers
Cubs
Blue Jays
AngelsThis isn’t an exclusive list, others still remain in. These are just the ones I know are still in the mix. https://t.co/t2UG852Xfk

Notably, Ohtani has a great personal career but still has not won any World Series. The repeated failures of the Angels not making it to the postseason is the primary reason behind it. Given the two times MVP wanted to win the championship, it was a setback for him. It frustrated the Japanese wonder and was visible in his public interviews. This brought the equation of him changing the base to pursue his dream.

It has again resurfaced with teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays ready to sign him. Given that they can provide him with that opportunity to experience the playoffs for being regular, the 30-year-old can choose one of them this season. But his love and familiarity may push him towards the Angels again. Will that be the case? Let us know your take on this in the comments.
