The Toronto Blue Jays’ star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is in the headlines right now! While the fans and trade experts speculate Vladimir’s contract extension, with the Blue Jays promising not to close the door for him ever, MLB insider Jeff Pasan denies any such thing to happen. The Blue Jays’ nice remarks do not seem to have any impact on Guerrero because he is willing to become a free agent.

Before moving on to the discussion in more detail, let’s have a look at Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s performance in 2024, where he had an average of.323, 616 AB, and 103 RBIs. Although Vladdy has made significant contributions to the Blue Jays, he confirmed that there will be no contract negotiations after he reports, as his contract expires on February 18. Think that’s a good decision to leave the Blue Jays?

It comes as a surprise for many that despite the Toronto Blue Jays trying hard to extend Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s contract, Vladdy has made his intentions clear about the negotiations to be managed before the season begins, saying, “After February 18, my focus is on baseball.” Now, weighing on the Blue Jays’ approaching Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s contract extension, on February 15, MLB insider Jeff Passan said on Sportsnet 590 The Fan, “I see no reason why things are going to change once it gets past the deadline.”

Passan believes that it all comes down to Guerrero Jr.’s decision, considering that this may be one of the most important years of his life. He further added that Vladdy does not want to get distracted by anything; however, the Toronto Blue Jays have all the time to put the best offer on his table, which sadly hasn’t happened yet. Passan went on to say that in case the deadline passes, Guerrero Jr. would turn out to be much more valuable as a free agent, and that’s the reason the Blue Jays might not be able to get him back anyhow, despite keeping doors open for him. So, which team is looking for him—the New York Mets, maybe?

The Mets are in pursuit of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s services
