The Toronto Blue Jays seem to have rediscovered their checkbook—and just in time. After months of playing hard to get, Toronto is reportedly circling back with an offer that actually meets Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s price. Turns out, keeping a generational talent requires more than just wishful thinking. Now, the question is: will Guerrero finally get his well-earned payday?
Finally, there is some good news for the Blue Jays fans. There is news coming in that the Blue Jays are ready to offer the contract to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. It is not a contract that normal players get. Remember when Guerrero Jr. said that the contract requested was not as big as Juan Soto’s, that is surely not the case.
Hector Gomez reported that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is about to receive a big contract. He initially proposed this same deal to the Blue Jays. He said, “The #BlueJays are planning to make a new offer to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., which will be close to what he is looking for. According to the source, the Jays’ offer would be in the range of 14–15 years and $550-600 million.”

If you remember correctly, there was news coming in that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wanted a 14-15-year contract with around $500 million in wages. If the reports are true, then that is exactly what he will be getting. Gomez says that the Blue Jays are thinking of a 14-15 year deal with $550-600 million in wages.

At the start of this drama, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. said that he wanted to sign a long-term deal with the Jays. However, he made it clear that the price needed to be right, and according to him, it was not. And after this contract rejection, the talks had stopped altogether and news of his transfer started to fly around.
With the rookie contract almost up, the Blue Jays have to face the reality that if they don’t offer a contract, he is gone. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been one of the best home-grown talents the Blue Jays have had in a long time. After the 2024 season he had, it will be tough for the fans to digest. In 2024, Guerrero Jr. hit 30 home runs with an average of .323 and had 103 RBIs. This shows the offensive impact he has had on the team.
Toronto has played the waiting game long enough—now, they either pay up or watch Guerrero Jr. walk. If they fumble this deal, there won’t be a shortage of teams ready to roll out the red carpet. The Blue Jays have the pen in their hands; the only question is whether they’ll finally sign the check.
