2023 has not been an easy year for the New York Mets. They have struggled to win games on a consistent basis and are currently in some rough form. This continues a trend in the wrong direction for the Steve Cohen-owned team. Injuries have played a part in their current run of bad form as well. But team owner Cohen is not discouraged. Most recently, he clapped back at a fan who criticized their 2022 season.

The Mets won a fantastic 101 games last year but were terrible at the end of the regular season. Furthermore, they were beaten in the Wild Card Series, getting knocked out of the postseason in an embarrassing fashion. But Cohen does not believe that the season was a complete failure.

2022 was a great season for the Mets, excluding a tough run in their last 10 games. Furthermore, the postseason was a disaster, as the team got beaten in the Wild Card Series. Most recently, Steve Cohen had a straightforward reply to a fan’s criticism of the team’s 2022 season. A Twitter user called @Hawksheart7 said that the team took advantage of a lot of situations to win 101 games. But they blew a lead and lost the division crown. In reply, Cohen said that the team did something right to win 101 games.

In a Tweet reply, Cohen said, “Tough crowd , won 101 games . We must of done something right”. This was a straightforward reply from the Mets’ owner, who is gunning for a World Series title. Since taking over in 2020, Cohen has made significant investments in the team in terms of signings.

The team has the MLB’s highest 2023 payroll by far. But that expense has not gone wasted as the team is now building some regular season success. Although the Mets have struggled a little to start the 2023 season, they have more than 100 games to play. Additionally, Cohen is committed to winning a championship.

Steve Cohen wants to win a World Series title

In November 2020, during his introductory Press Conference after buying the Mets, Steve Cohen set the tone for his ownership. He said that he wanted to achieve something great with the team and win a World Series in the next 3-5 years. Cohen has made a significant investment in players to make that goal happen. But only time will tell if his team is able to win the World Series this year and achieve his goal.
