Jeter’s 20 long years of endurance in MLB made him baseball royalty. But he came from a modest family background. His parents, Sanderson Charles and Dorothy were a bunch of hardworking people in their working days. So they instilled the same strong mindset in their children.

Derek was born in New Jersey, but the family moved to Michigan when he was just 4. He began playing little league games when he was a five-year-old. During vacations, he would go to stay with his grandparents in New Jersey.

The reason behind Derek Jeter’s rise in words of his mother

Thus, ever since Derek Jeter was a kid, he always dreamt of playing for the Yankees. Moreover, he wanted to play as the team’s shortstop. Thus, in 1992, he got a call from the Yankees’ office and got drafted as the sixth player. Moving on, Jeter’s grand dream came true as he made his MLB debut for the Yankees as the shortstop in 1994.

What followed from there onwards was one of the most fascinating tales in baseball folklore. Staying on as a Yankees loyalist, Jeter became one of the greatest shortstops in MLB history. His exhilarating performances in the postseason were rather the stuff of miracles. Jeter bid farewell to baseball in 2014 as a 14-time All-Star player with five World Series trophies.
