Talkin’ Yanks shared the news on Twitter, writing, “Josh Donaldson’s calf strain is a high enough grade that it’s considered a tear. He doesn’t have a timetable to return and doesn’t know if he has a shot to make it back this season” Nevertheless, the worry lingers: Is the injury significant? 

Per the New York Daily News’ Gary Phillips, the Yankees’ third baseman’s right calf tear garnered two opinions. Either the injury is a Grade 2-plus or Grade 3. Although the team cliched a 6-3 victory against the Rockies, the Yankees made the decision to place Donaldson on the 10-day injured list on Sunday.

Moreover, when he was asked about his return to this season, Donaldson said, “I don’t know.’

Earlier this season, the three-time All-Star Donaldson was placed on the Injury List on April 5 and returned on June 2. As a result, he missed 51 games due to his right hamstring strain.
