Baseball is just beautiful. This game can make someone’s day out of the blue. Recently, the Houston Astros played a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox. Although the Astros won the show after JJ Matijevic hit his 1st career home run, a young fan from the stands stole the show.
On the occasion of Father’s Day, the Astros were playing the series decider against the White Sox at the Minute Maid Park. A 16-year-old Rylan Freeman, along with his father, Jim Freeman, and a younger brother, came to watch the high-voltage game. Little did Rylan know it would be one of the best nights of his life.

During the fourth inning of the game, the Astros designated hitter, J.J. Matijevic, hit his first career home run. And guess what? Sitting in the stands, Rylan collected the home run ball and landed the best deal with the Astros.
Houston Astros had a tough job negotiating for JJ Matijevic’s home run ball
When Rylan collected the home run ball, the Astros sent a representative to negotiate a deal to get the ball back. But it was not easy for the Astros. Per MLB.com, Rylan demanded a jersey of Justin Verlander in exchange for the home run ball. But the Astros denied it. Later, the 16-year-old fan asked for a Jose Altuve’s signed ball or six tickets to a baseball game. But once again, the Astros denied it.
“They came up to me and said, ‘What do you want?’” Rylan said. “I love pitching, so I said I wanted a J.V. jersey. I love Justin Verlander… They said, ‘We can’t do that.”

However, the Astros played their best card when they surprised Rylan with a signed jersey of Justin Verlander, Jose Altuve’s autographed ball, six tickets to a game, and six batting practice access tickets. It was probably the best deal Rylan got in his life.

The family was so happy that Rylan’s father described the day as the “best father’s day.”
JJ Matijevic won it for the Astros
After hitting his first career home run, Matijevic said it was a special moment for him. “It was a blur. But once I hit second, I knew what happened, and I just looked up and took it all in, saw the fans,” Matijevic said.
