Before Dating Alex Rodriguez, Grammy Winner Jennifer Lopez Lost a Close Friend in Rihanna Due to an Unfortunate Fallout

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez has remained in the spotlight throughout his life, both on and off the field. His grand success on the baseball diamond made him a larger-than-life personality. Away from the field, his private life has gained the limelight due to his starry love life. ‘A-Rod’ has dated many high-profile women in his life, one of them being the Grammy recipient singer, Jennifer Lopez.

Lopez and the well-known singer, Rihanna, used to be close friends at one point in time. But discovering someone between the two pop megastars emotionally hurt Rihanna. The consequences got serious to the point that Rihanna even had a fallout with Lopez. The said someone, in this case, happened to be hip-hop icon Drake.

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez began dating Jennifer Lopez in 2017. It all happened through a chance meeting that formed a friendship between the two. From there on, the pair turned into lovers. They got engaged in 2019, but broke the engagement in 2021 and separated ways. 

But before the pairing with ‘A-Rod’, Lopez briefly dated Drake. They were together only for a few months. Lopez canceled her New Year’s Eve performance in December 2016 to attend Drake’s concert at Las Vegas’ Hakkasan nightclub. However, discovering Lopez’s romance with Drake left Rihanna heartbroken. 

Rihanna and Drake dated between 2009 to 2016. Speaking in an interview in 2018, Rihanna reportedly said, “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.” Her words hinted at an end of the relationship between the two.

Rihanna spoke to Lopez about her relationship issues with her ex-boyfriend Drake. But so, when Rihanna found Lopez to be dating Drake, she felt a sense of being cheated on by her best friend. A source reported saying, “Rihanna and Jennifer used to be good friends. She’s even confided in J.Lo about her rocky relationship with Drake over the years. Rihanna is very hurt.”
