Earlier, during the late 90s, A-Rod was the next big thing in the baseball world. A serial hitter from the plate with calmness, MLB pundits and fans considered him MLB’s golden boy. And he even became one of the most successful players in baseball. But by the time he retired, A-Rod knew he did something wrong which ruined his legacy in baseball.

Per Sports Illustrated, the former Yankee admitted that by the time he realized his mistakes, it was too late for him. Notably, while being at the peak of his career, Alex Rodriguez made several mistakes, including using PEDs, multiple failed relationships, and his beef with Derek Jeter.

“I had it backwards,” Alex Rodriguez said. “I tried to say the right things, to be manipulative, instead of doing the right things.”
“For so long, I took the approach that it doesn’t matter what they write; I’m just going to go out and be the best baseball player I can be. I didn’t realize that it actually does matter.”
The PEDs scandal was the worst thing that happened to the Yankees legend. Not only did MLB ban him for a year, but A-Rod also lost the legacy and respect he had built over two decades.
