The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd— this is what we all expect from the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open at the Memorial Park! And the Houston owner expects even more when his team is up against the New York Mets. So, what does Jim Crane want the Stros to do?

Well, the owner is hopeful of making some changes to the roster and focus on getting some big names for the team. The reason? As the New York Mets have spent a huge amount of money buying some major players, the Astros’ owner believes that they can still make it big by drawing some major players who can turn things around for them.

So, it’s not just about competition, but rather the way the teams look at each other before the faceoff, isn’t it?

Looking at the way things are going, it seems true as the New York Mets bought the superstar Juan Soto for a fifteen-year, $765 million deal, which is even more than the combined spending of 22 other MLB teams. Along with other expenses, the Mets’ payroll has grown to about $340 million this season, but the owner of the Astros feels that some more significant changes should be made. As stated by him, “The Mets spend a lot of money, so I hope we can beat the heck out of them.” Crane looks to turn things around before the big clash.

As Jim Crane and the Astros Golf Foundation are the driving forces behind the Texas Children’s Houston Open, he is keen to have the strongest field at the Memorial Park, having ten out of the top 20 players across the globe. The top-ranked men’s golfer Scottie Scheffler, number seven Wyndham Clark, and 2022 World Champion Tony Finau are all targets for Crane. However, there’s a problem—the condition of the course is not very good.

We all expect that it will soon regain its previous condition, with the Texas Children’s Houston Open’s first round starting on March 27 and ending on March 30. However, the Astros’ owner has something else to say about their superstar’s change in position too.

Astros’ owner has his say on their superstar’s positional change

Amid the Houston Astros’ owner sending a strong message to the New York Mets, there’s another problem that may affect their lineup. Their superstar Jose Altuve has changed his position, moving on to left field during spring training, which has grabbed the attention of many, including Jim Crane. Given that the 34-year-old never played the outfield in MLB, this sudden move has taken Crane by surprise, as he revealed his sentiments for Altuve’s selflessness and team-first approach. Quite surprising, isn’t it?

Well, Crane believes that Jose Altuve is a team guy, a great athlete, who does not need to take advice from anyone; rather, he knows what he is capable of doing for the best of the team. Crane also praised this approach, confirming that he would cover the entire ground and his catching ability would equally complement his ability while playing in the new position.
