That’s where his legacy is going to be. You’ll probably build a statue one day.”

Bregman’s exit from Houston: Cubs and Tigers lead the chase

As the uncertainty around Alex Bregman’s future with the Houston Astros looms large, multiple suitors are making their case. A change of scenery seems more probable as teams like the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers have shown some serious interest in Alex Bregman.

The Cubs have shown the most aggression in their pursuit of Bregman, reportedly offering him a deal worth $30 million per year for four years with multiple opt-outs. As Nightingale states, “The Cubs seem more aggressive now, going for a 3 or 4-year deal.”This directly reflects Chicago’s push for a shorter deal, which they hope will attract Bregman. Although it doesn’t align with his request for a longer contract. However, despite a short deal, the Cubs’ competitive roster and aggressive approach could be an attractive fit for the third baseman.

As for the Tigers, Nightingale noted, “Alex is looking for a 6-year deal, or even 7,” pointing out that Bregman’s preferences align more with what the Detroit Tigers could offer—a multi-year contract, perhaps with the security and opportunity to become a cornerstone player in their rebuilding efforts. While their roster isn’t quite as competitive as some other contenders, Detroit has the flexibility to offer Bregman the long-term security he craves.
