Baseball fans stick together. In the face of adversity, the MLB community is coming together to support a badly faring fanbase. The 2023 season has been a franchise-worst for the Oakland Athletics, struggling to maintain attendance numbers. Fans who do grace the County Coliseum with their presence erupt in chants of “Sell the team!” Next, they’re taking their cause to the rest of the league.

A’s owner, John Fisher, has come under fire for essentially ruining the club since taking ownership in 2005. Now, he’s trying to move the franchise to Las Vegas, leaving Oakland without any major sports teams. As if the strain on the front office wasn’t enough, the A’s are currently the worst team in the league. No wonder fans have had it up to here.

In the fourth instance of the MLB world uniting this season, a recent Dodgers vs Athletics match-up saw Los Angeles Dodgers fans supporting the A’s fanbase. A few days ago, Oakland appealed to LA to keep ‘The Summer of Sell’ going at Dodger Stadium. While many questioned joining a fight that had nothing to do with them, most realized the gravity of the situation.

And in full support of their brethren, Dodgers fans took up the war cry of “Sell the team!” in the fifth inning. Before this, the A’s fanbase also participated in a ‘reverse boycott’ movement on June 13 at the Coliseum. In addition, they rallied Seattle’s help at the All-Star game as Mariners fans joined the cause at T-Mobile Park. In a rare show of solidarity, even Oakland’s cross-town rivals, the San Francisco Giants’ fanbase came together to support the A’s at Oracle Park.

Nevada has approved the bill for a new A’s ballpark to be built on The Strip, although the club has yet to formally submit a relocation request, as per Audacy. Maybe Fisher is hoping that a fresh start will help the struggling team because the current roster is unable to improve numbers.

In fact, in a rare moment of hilarity, a youngster’s mistake brought some much-needed levity to Dodger Stadium.

Young Los Angeles Dodgers fan makes spectacular ball steal

Serious fan interference is a rare thing because most ballparks are equipped to lessen the damage and let players do their thing. However, a young kid at Dodger Stadium caught the ball from Freddie Freeman out of the air by leaning down from his seat, immediately looking guilty. The announcers as well as the audience around couldn’t help but laugh at the kid’s face, who looked sheepish after his actions.

As the A’s outfielder running after the ball walked back dejected, MLB Twitter couldn’t help but roast the team.

Some wanted him thrown out of the stadium, while others defended him too.
