Barbies and Kens (even Allans), you want to go for a ride? MLB’s traditions steeped in pop culture have long appealed to fans, and 2023 is no different. The Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco Giants are using the blockbuster movie of the year to appeal to their fanbases. Are fans ready to accept a night of all-pink?

The Giants have been holding on to the third position in the NL West despite their Wild Card contention being shaky at best. On the other hand, the BoSox has gone into an abrupt decline this year, moving to the bottom of the AL East. With the recent firing of Chaim Bloom, tensions are high in Beantown. Not many are looking up to the upcoming match-up between the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. In a year that has seen Sox fans divert their baseball loyalties, the club is determined to make them care again. What better way to do it than to change the green Fenway Park to a pink Kenway Park?

For a series that not many would be interested in, the BoSox are celebrating the release of Barbie for digital purchase. ?Whether you?re a Barbie or just Ken (or even Allan), help us kick off Barbie Night with our pregame Pink Party on the Sam Deck and dance the night away!? reads the team website. Whether one is a Barbie or just Ken, (or even Allan!), purchasing a game ticket will make everyone eligible to choose between two Barbie Red Sox shirts.

When even a series against the New York Yankees couldn’t attract attention to the Boston ballpark, perhaps Barbie will help move things along. Maybe the Greta Gerwig movie didn’t appeal to everyone who watched it. But the Red Sox can guarantee at least a majority of the city wouldn’t mind the merchandise. And San Fran won’t be left behind.

These Giants Rookies Are ‘Kenough’

One of the most beloved baseball traditions is San Francisco Giants rookies’ themes cosplays for an away game near the season’s end. What could be a better choice than Ken, the man who stole the show alongside Barbie this year?

Luis Matos, Patrick Bailey, Blake Sabol, Keaton Winn, and Ryan Walker all showed up in different Ken costumes from the movie. It was for a trip to Arizona and true to tradition, the rookies shone brightly. Incidentally, all their costumes are what Ryan Gosling wore in Barbie, although of course the movie is populated with different Kens (and Allan!)
