The struggles of 2023 for the New York Yankees have been utterly dismaying. Be it for the players, fans, or the management. Taking everything into consideration, it is none other than the executives of the team (including Brian Cashman) who have to fix the issue. Derek Jeter’s ex-teammate ignites the real question, can they achieve that with limited trust?
Opinions about the much-maligned General manager are ample. This particular time though, this former Pinstripe emerged defending Cashman. His opinion starkly differs from the masses and has shaken the internet given the gravity of the situation.

A recent tweet by @Yankeelibrarian captures what former Yankee, CC Sabathia said at his Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament. Though there is mistrust, this close friend and teammate of Derek Jeter’s bestowed hope on Cashman. He said, “I think if you look at Cash’s track record, whether good or bad, he does stuff. He’s not going to sit on his hands and let this year be a failure and not do anything to this roster. That’s just who he is. If you just look at the last 25 years of him being the GM, he makes moves. What moves can he make? I think that’s the question, but he’s definitely going to do something”. Well, what about the inefficiencies though?
Yankees fans should trust Brian Cashman, CC Sabathia says at his Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament:

A pattern of inefficiencies and failures in 2023 is proof that the team put together by Brian Cashman is the ‘Evil Empire’. With the playoffs hope compromised and the off-season approaching, the MLB world senses the tension intensifying. Although Sabathia’s request asking fans to trust Brian Cashman in the thick of this turmoil is not being taken well, there might be some credibility in Cashman.
Upon being asked by reporters, via SNY, last month to comment on the lack of New York Yankees’ success, Cashman admitted “It’s been a disaster“. He mentioned that he was upset about the nine-game losing streak, which was the longest for the franchise since 1982. That being said, it’s time for the fans to do the talking.
Fans Cannot Control Their Rage
With certain statements by important stakeholders out in the open, the fans pour in their thoughts. Some are great, some critical, but there is room for opinions.
One fan expressed his concern about the decisions he would make.
No one is worried that he's not going to do something. People are (rightly) worried about the moves he will make given his track record over the past 3-4 years.

Some sprinkled in humor and sarcasm while addressing the meetings
Agree. My hope is that input is being driven by Sabean, Minaya, Judge and not Fishy… I hope Fishman’s keycard has already been disabled by the time the meetings happen

Another fan strongly but respectfully claimed that Sabathia is wrong.
As much as I love and respect, CC Sabathia, he got this wrong…

Some fans even shunned CC Sabathia for giving his opinion.
CC, respectfully, sit this one out

Some criticized Cashman and stood their ground making grave demands like “He needs to go”.
Cash didn't do anything at the trade deadline. And last year's trade deadline was a dumpster fire. He needs to go.

There is not much a statement can do, one may think. But it raised questions like “He does stuff?”

“He does stuff”? Ok, I’m sold 🙄 maybe asking a guy for an opinion on a guy that gave him close to $180M isn’t the best way to get an unbiased opinion. CC is phenomenal and deserves utmost respect but his endorsement shouldn’t matter at all
