As Los Angeles Angels Snap Losing Streak, Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout Break a Unique Home Run Record

Despite having two of the biggest baseball stars, the Los Angeles Angels’ overall performance doesn’t always align with their star power. However, in 2023, there have been some notable improvements and consistent good performances, as seen in last night’s game. Against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Halos finally broke a four-game losing streak with a score of 5-2. And yet again, two of the night’s shining stars were Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.

The power duo has turned things up a notch this season, setting new standards for teammates. This season might be the last they spend as teammates, so the Angels players are going out with a bang.

Ohtani and Trout have long since joined the list and even broken a record in their latest victory over Arizona.

According to ESPN Stats, this Angels duo has hit home runs in the same game for the 8th time this season, most of any other MLB duo. Ohtani is leading the league with 31 HRs, while it was Trout’s 18th long ball of the season.

In 2021, Sho-time made history when he was selected to be on the All-Star team as both a pitcher and batter. As if that feat wasn’t incredible enough, he did it again in 2022, and 2023 brought the same fate. Having led the league with the most votes in Phase 1, Ohtani was set to be the starting designated hitter. As ESP announced yesterday, the 28-year-old will also be the starting pitcher.
