Hearing the New York Yankees fans booing someone isn’t a rare sight; that’s just part of baseball. However, it is surprising when one finds out that Yankees captain Aaron Judge was the one being booed by the Bronx faithful. How could they boo their captain and the face of this franchise? Perhaps it’s got something to do with Judge’s form.

‘All Rise’ hasn’t been rising this season. The only thing that has risen for Judge is his pain on the plate; the superstar is just not able to generate the kind of power he’s popular for. And that has resulted in a surprising trend which is calling the management to bench Aaron Judge! While it has received a mixed response from people, the trend has caught on with many fans. However, while things are tough for Judge at least the Yankees manager still believes in him.

It’s good to see him kind of get into one,” Boone said in his postgame conference about Judge, who went 1-for-3 in the Yankees’ 4-3 win over the Oakland Athletics. “Cold night tonight, wind blowing around. Good to see him shoot one the other way, like that to right-center where Ruiz made a pretty play on him. He’s always close. Good to see him definitely get some results, get on base a couple of times. Matter of time.”

Judge has been going through perhaps one of his career’s biggest slumps currently. The 2022 MVP entered this game with a meager .174 average in his past 8 games. Additionally, in those games, the Yankees captain was struck out 18 times. This game proved to be a positive one for Judge, who didn’t get struck out for the first time since April 13. That could certainly be a huge boost for the struggling captain.

However, that doesn’t erase the fact that the calls for his benching have been getting louder. But then the top Yankees analyst, Michael Kay, noted an important point regarding that benching demand.

“Bench Aaron Judge”; but where is his replacement?

Michael Kay noted in The Michael Kay Show that while people are trending ‘bench Judge’, who will be his replacement? Kay shared that one could argue that Gleyber Torres can be benched in favor of DJ LeMahieu, but how can one even think about benching ‘All Rise’?

Especially given that Judge has just entered the second year of his $360 million deal. But it’s hard to argue that the fans are losing their patience with the Yankees hitters. Apart from Juan Soto and the other young players like Oswaldo Cabrera and Anthony Volpe, the Bronx Bombers’ hitting hasn’t yet fired on all cylinders.

The fact that Judge is at the forefront of that slump makes him an easy target. But if this game against the A’s is any indication, Judge’s slowly but surely regaining his footing. And that’s all the good news that the New York Yankees currently need.
