It is no secret that some ex-Yankees have an adulterated history with the mega-franchise. One such former New York Yankee who had a 7-season long run moved out in infamy but has made a comeback with a fierce action as a Texas Ranger. Could this be intentional?
While the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros fight for their spot in the World Series, their games get more and more fierce by the day. Following a dramatic incident in Game 5 of the ALCS where Adolis Garcia was ejected for being the aggressor, Game 7 witnessed some vengeance.

The battle between the Astros and the Rangers saw some evident aggression from Texas. Be it the 11-4 win or the 103.7mph pitch in the eighth inning. Either way, this was symbolic of the trailing untamed baggage of the ejection episode.
In a tweet posted by @TalkinBaseball_, the clip showed the relief pitcher, Aroldis Chapman pitch at a speed of nearly 104mph which hit Chas McCormick in the hamstring. As painful as it was to watch, the Houston outfielder could not even stand up to walk. Scarily astounding indeed!
Since the Statcast began recording in 2015, this one was the 2nd second-hardest hit-by-pitch. A victim to this ferocity, McCormick said, “I’m good. I’m OK. It hit me in the hamstring. It doesn’t feel good. You can’t really see it, either. I just tried to get up as fast as possible and tried to not look like a baby. It definitely didn’t feel good at all.”

With that, addressing the innate rivalry, he appreciated the strengths of both teams and made it evident that there would possibly be more displays of rivalry considering the intense competition.
Speaking of Chapman, he has a reputation for being a rebel, or so does his history say. Back in the day, when he was a Yankee, the team fined him for an unapproved absence from compulsory team practice at Yankee Stadium in 2022. It was quite an unconventional move, considering that he was already a struggling relief pitcher, as per nytimes.com. With that, the 35-year-old was out of the roster for the year’s American League division series. Circling back to 2023, the Rangers have outshone the Astros.

Winning Goes Beyond Vengeance
Rangers captured the AL pennant Monday night at Minute Maid Park defending their WS spot. Some words to describe this seven-game set between the two AL teams would be bizarre, savage, and definitely bench-clearing. With that aggression, the Rangers displayed at the Juice Box, the Adolis Garcia vengeance is done.

While one can’t ignore the aspect of avenging, Martín Maldonado took a mature approach to explain the events. He said, “I don’t think it’s a rivalry. I think every team we play, they want to beat us. And it’s the same thing (with us). A couple years ago, it used to be the Yankees. It doesn’t matter what team we play”. With that, the ultimate goal for the teams is winning the Commissioner’s Trophy.
