Expectedly, signing Tanner Scott to the lineup was yet another beneficial move. This lefty finished his past season with a 3.19 ERA and a career-high 31 saves with the Marlins. All these give the message of a targeted approach to enhance Boston’s pitching level. Now, the team has been linked to another vital name on the trade market: Alex Bregman. The star 3B’s capability to fit in has been the subject of much speculation, given his mix of defensive and offensive power. Could Alex Bregman be the Red Sox’s missing piece?

In 2024, Alex Bregman displayed his offensive prowess with 23 home runs, 94 RBIs, and a solid .841 OPS. Such numbers say what a threat Breggy could be to the opponent. Defensively, Bregman’s Gold Glove-caliber capabilities at third base highlight exceptional reliability. And you cannot ignore the fact he did help the Houston Astros become the World Series ring holder in 2017. Besides, his experience and leadership skills could surely be a priceless addition for Boston, improving their chances of entering the postseason.

However, signing Bregman might have certain setbacks, too. His lucrative deal, running through 2026, could stretch Boston’s financial limits. Let’s face it: heightened competition from all the other teams could drive up his trade value. It would also take ingenuity to adopt him in a tram alongside Rafael Devers at third. Still, bringing Bregman to Fenway Park would highlight Boston’s steadfast inspiration to establish a club capable of winning a title.

The Red Sox is obviously far from done making waves, as put by Sam Kennedy, “We’re not done.” For fans, the next month could be pivotal in determining if this is the beginning of a championship-caliber roster. As Boston’s offseason unfolds, big news are on the horizon.
