Being a rising rookie for the New York Yankees is a tough task. But Anthony Volpe has battled rough form and come back in recent weeks with some top play. The Yankees’ minor league team is now celebrating his comeback into the season with a chicken parm move.

Volpe came into the season with high expectations and comparisons to Derek Jeter. Although he showed some promising flashes early on, a rough patch of form set in. The 22-year-old then threw the hitting coach under the bus while finding a solution to his bad form. And during the latest game between the minor league teams, Somerset Patriots vs Bowie Baysox Volpe got a chicken parm honor.

Anthony Volpe faced a terrible slump in his hitting midway through the season. In mid-June, he watched tape with Minor League teammate Austin Wells while having chicken parm sandwiches for dinner. They found a tick in Volpe’s batting stance, which he corrected with great results. He then went on a run of form that fans are attributing to the chicken parm.

Most recently, the Somerset Patriots, the Yankees’ minor league team, celebrated Anthony Volpe. They honored him with a bobblehead night where they also sold chicken parm sandwiches as suggested by the Talkin’ Yanks tweet.

With less than 100 Triple-A at-bats under his belt, it was obvious that Volpe was going to struggle at some point. But he has dealt with the situation like a true professional, showing poise and maturity beyond his age.
