Coming into 2023, there were a lot of expectations for the New York Yankees’ shortstop position. Fans and experts alike were delighted when Anthony Volpe was given the starting spot after Spring Training. But after a good start to the season, things have gone downhill for the Yankees’ star rookie. He is currently going through a bit of a slump, especially with his batting. But most recently, he discovered the problem with his stance.
This is a massive update as the 22-year-old looks to get out of his current poor form. But fans were left scratching their heads as the team’s hitting coach did not play a part in this discovery. Only time will tell if fixing this hitch improves Volpe’s numbers, but the issue seems to have been found.

Anthony Volpe has had a rough time recently after a promising start to the season. The Yankees’ rookie shortstop has struggled with his batting in particular. There have even been rumors of him possibly going down to the Minor Leagues, which team owner Hal Steinbrenner has seemingly shut down.
Most recently, he discovered a tweak in his stance while watching tape with Minor League teammate Austin Wells over dinner. This is probably a slap in the face of the Yankees’ hitting coach as the rookie discovered this flaw with his Minor League teammates. Yet, Volpe and other struggling players have not been able to overcome it with their coaching team. MLB insider Bryan Hoch reported the development on Twitter.
Anthony Volpe found a mechanical tweak to his stance on Monday night, going over old game video with minor league teammate Austin Wells. They were having dinner with Volpe’s family in Watchung, N.J. Chicken Parmesan and spaghetti was served.

This is a massive update as Volpe looks to improve his batting form and contribute more. But he has been quite good against the New York Mets in the Subway Series. He hit 2 doubles in the first game, which was a win despite the Yankees’ infield making a massive error. Let’s have a look at what fans think of this latest development.
Yankees fans have mixed reactions to this update
Although it is a big positive that Anthony Volpe found a way to improve his batting, fans have mixed reactions. There are some that questioned the hitting coaches. Others expressed a more positive outlook on the update. And some fans wondered why Volpe was not working with the hitting coaches.
I don't know all the details on this story but it seems like an awful look for the coaching staff, no?

Other fans were happy that he seems to have worked out his weaknesses.
Hopefully, Anthony Volpe has figured out the reasons for his earlier struggles and he will start hitting well again for the #Yankees.
