Playing baseball for the New York Yankees is a difficult experience, especially for rookies. This is due to immense pressure and expectations. But one youngster has flourished with the team this season and has continuously drawn comparisons to Derek Jeter. Most recently, this rookie showed off a good performance, once again intensifying the comparisons.
In recent years, the Yankees have had a mixed bag with young players. Although some have lived up to the hype, many have not lived up to the standard of a Bronx Bomber. But the team’s star rookie Anthony Volpe is playing some top baseball at the moment.

Anthony Volpe has had an up-and-down season thus far, with spurts of good and bad form. He is currently playing some of his best baseball, after overcoming a batting slump and detecting a mechanical flaw in his stance. Most recently, he smashed a home run against the Baltimore Orioles in the 8th inning. This took the score at the time to 3-4, bringing the Yankees within a run of the Orioles. The clutch hit earned him comparisons to Derek Jeter, despite the team losing the game 6-3. A video of the hit has been shared on Twitter by the Yankees, earning him significant praise.

In the Tweet, the Yankees said, “AV sends one out 💪”. The homer gave the team a chance to get back into the game, but the Yankees’ pitching fumbled and gave up 2 runs in the 9th inning. Despite this, it does not take away anything from Volpe’s hit.
The reactions to the home run have been wholly positive as he continues his great form. Some fans compared him to Derek Jeter.
In his first 630 at-bats in 1995 & 96, Derek Jeter had 10 home runs for the #Yankees. Anthony Volpe just hit his 12th home run in his 293rd AB. Kid has unreal pop for a rookie shortstop.

Other fans were happy about the great improvements.
Volpe has raised his average about 30 pts in the past month. He may only be hitting .229 but his homers, stolen bases and good defense are a rookie preview of what will be a great Yankee future. #BrightFuture pic.twitter.com/pA9OwN0MTR

Dude been swinging the bat hot lately.. he’s going to be something special for this team in the near future. Starting SS must be a lot of pressure as a Yankee. https://t.co/Q9sgvYsFuf

There were even some fans that referenced the chicken parm dinner that started this top form.

It is safe to say, Volpe is on track to have a great rookie season. His defense, base-running, and power-hitting have all been there. Only his ability to make contact has to continue improving as the season progresses. Earlier this month, he achieved a milestone feat during a streak of good batting performances.
Anthony Volpe had 5 consecutive multi-hit games
The biggest worry about Anthony Volpe has been his batting and ability to make consistent contact. But earlier this month, he achieved a milestone feat in that regard. Between 28th June and 2nd July, he had 5 consecutive multi-hit games. This is a career-high for the Yankees rookie. Furthermore, it is a truly encouraging milestone as he continues to improve his batting. Although he has a way to go in his development, the last few weeks have been extremely promising.
