The New York Yankees’ 7-5 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates came at a significant cost. Friday’s game witnessed the 28-year-old reliever in a fatal incident that could have been a concussion. He was hit by a 100.6 miles per hour line drive before getting to his feet and walking to a cart to be taken off the field. After barely missing the worst, the latest update on his injury cheered his teammates up.

The incident happened in the 6th inning when Pittsburgh’s Ji Hwan Bae hit a liner and Anthony Misiewicz could not get his glove to cover his face on time trying to catch. Though the incident was alarming, he remained alert and oriented. The incident that got Gerrit Cole “sick on stomach,” finally saw a positive update this morning.

Anthony Misiewicz was admitted to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after he was injured in PNC park. He later experienced concussion-related symptoms on Saturday. The scrutiny of his situation continues while he still has more tests ahead of him. Meanwhile, Greg Joyce reported the current Anthony’s discharge status indicating that the anxious Yankees have calmed down.

One could not ignore the gravity of the situation. Being hit by that fast a liner on the left ear and hopped off into right field is definitely a matter of concern. However, Misiewicz is a fun and positive human being. As an innately jovial person, the left-hander joked with his teammates as he left the field saying, “I thought I threw a pretty good curveball.”

Things looked bright when Boone met him on Saturday after he was placed on a 7 day concussion injured list since he was conscious and communicating. “I saw Anthony last night when he got back from the hospital, I was able to stop by his room and see him. He was in good spirits. Looked and sounded pretty good,” The Yanks manager said.

Boone further added on how Anthony’s discharge was a good news for the team, “I just know he was good enough last night to be released from the hospital, which was obviously really good news”.

Nevertheless, since is too soon to be back, the Yankees have a replacement ready to cover for him.
