The New York Yankees are doing their best to avoid scrutiny. July is ending with August 1 trade deadline drawing closer and closer. The most talked about player in the league is undoubtedly Shohei Ohtani, who remains a Los Angeles favorite. The Yankees have their players rumored to be on the trade list, but they are glossing over that fact with all the coach news lately.

The much-awaited return of Aaron Judge still seems farther than ever, but the team still needs offensive production. The Pinstripes even seemed a likely candidate for landing Ohtani to many at first, but their dismal performance streak may differ from what the Japanese sensation is looking for. Given this status, news of Andy Pettitte’s hiring makes sense, but some fans are still suspicious.

He then adds, “None of my reaction to this, and being a grouch, has to do with anything about the beautiful Andy Pettitte. I like him a ton. I just hate how much the Yankees are becoming an eyewash factory.”

Pettitte was more than competent as a pitcher during his active days and even counted among the Yankee ‘Core Four’ with Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera. But will that success translate into coaching?
