Retired baseball legend Derek Jeter has stepped up to the plate again. But only this time, the New York Yankees icon isn’t at bat for his former franchise. He is rather batting for himself now. Instead of the ball, he has smashed a decades-long rumor for a home run.
Derek Jeter is a baseball Hall Of Fame inductee, with numerous achievements to showcase. A legend of the game, he is a poster-boy icon in the New York Yankees pinstripes. So similar to almost every other famed successful personality, rumors circulated around Jeter’s name. Therefore, he decided it was finally time to address an allegation as such.

A leading news daily once made an infamous allegation about Derek Jeter, linking him to one-night stands. The report accused him of sending those girls back with autographed memorabilia. The word spread like wildfire. All of this didn’t sit properly with Derek Jeter, and so he finally spoke in his defense to clear the air.
Derek Jeter stands up to salvage pride
Back in the year 2011, an article in the New York Post accused Derek Jeter of enjoying one-night stands. They wrote that he partook in those affairs at his Trump World Tower bachelor pad. Then the next morning, he sent those girls back home in a car with a basket containing autographed memorabilia.
They reported this decadent period as a follow-up after parting ways with then-girlfriend Minka Kelly.
So the former Yankees’ shortstop finally broke his silence. He decided to respond and rub off the dirt stains from his reputation. According to US Weekly, Jeter hit back at the allegations in his upcoming docuseries, ‘The Captain’. He has unequivocally maintained his narrative stating, as none of that happened.
.@derekjeter's daughters figure heavily into his daily routine. “I’ll drop them off at school and then I’ll pick them up, usually around 2 p.m., and then it’s ballet classes or tennis lessons or I’m getting my fingernails painted or toes painted.” https://t.co/6laKUPf2X0

“I read the article,” quoted Derek Jeter. “You know, you see it, and then it’s like, ‘How the f*** did people come up with this?’ You know, basically, that’s it. And who would believe this s***? And you believed it!” said Jeter, dismissing the rumors.
However, he also mentioned that despite him having refuted the story, some people followed the misleading discourse.
“I remember being at a Starbucks one time and there’s some random guy behind me and he says, ‘Hey, I just want to let you know that I’m giving out gift baskets because you did,” recalled Jeter speaking of a past incident. “And I turned around and said, ‘You’re a f****n’ idiot!’ And the look on his face. Like, did he think I was gonna say, ‘Yeah, good job, man!”
A life away from media
Derek Jeter has persistently avoided consuming the media throughout his playing career and beyond, to avoid pessimistic thoughts. “I was always scared that I’d see my name and then scroll to see what they’re saying,” Jeter told The Hollywood Reporter in the year 2015.

“And I didn’t want to deal with that when I was playing. I’d tell my family and friends, ‘If you read something or hear something, don’t tell me about it.’ I didn’t want to read negativity.”
