The New York Yankees need to step back in time, perhaps to the days of Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter. Fans expect a performance worthy of that name from a franchise embedded into American lore. But while the word ‘Yankee’ may be synonymous with being American, the team’s recent performance would leave a bad taste in any fan’s mouth. Ever since Aaron Judge went on to the injured list, the team seems to be in a slump without the powerful presence of their captain.

While there is no concrete update on when Judge might return, some fans are deliberating on who else the Yankees can call on for some help. Anthony Volpe is already trying to do his best after skipping Triple-A for the Major Leagues. Despite his early success, keeping him for this long may prove detrimental ultimately. But can a past captain and his trusty sidekick accomplish the job today?

Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter started their MLB careers around the same time. Once great friends, they turned into enemies, but then fate brought them together as teammates. Despite the drama that constantly surrounded the team in the 2000s, it’s undeniable that the duo made the Yankees stronger.

While many current Bronx fans find A-Rod’s steroid past unforgivable and Jeter’s reputation overrated, others still would see them back on the diamond in a heartbeat. So when Talkin’ Yanks addressed the current roster’s struggles, is it any surprise that fans wanted to see Jeter and A-Rod back in pinstripes?

Derek Jeter was an excellent player but an even better captain. The Hall of Famer knew how to lead his team to victories.

While Alex Rodriguez may not have been a leader, his outstanding stats made him invaluable to any team he was on. After all, his lucrative contracts proved his worth. If these two were on the current roster alongside Aaron Judge, would it make the Yankees great again?

A-Rod and Jeter will pull FOX duty together

Rodriguez retired in 2016, while Jeter hung up his uniform in 2014. Ever since then, the duo has kept up with their favorite sport in different ways. For a short while, the former Captain Clutch partly owned the Miami Marlins and was involved in the team’s activities. Whereas Rodriguez worked as an MLB analyst for FOX Sports, something he still devotes time to.

Earlier this year, the channel announced that Jeter would join him in 2023. The two MLB legends and frenemies will be first seen at MLB’s London Series on June 24 and 25 this year. Well, fans are thrilled to witness the duo’s reunion on the field.
