“I’m not scared to be 0-2,” Juan Soto said. It’s not uncommon to see the New York Yankees superstar doing his trademark shuffles when things are difficult. Normally any batter would tremble at being completely behind in his at-bat. But then Soto isn’t any hitter, he’s a generational star. But what makes Soto generational isn’t just his talent but his mindset.
While the Yankees couldn’t overcome the Boston Red Sox in this series’ second game, Soto was his usual brilliant self. The Dominican slugger grew his streak of being on base at least twice to 11 consecutive games. And with a massive homer, he increased his home run tally to 18. However, the most interesting part of the game came when he was 1-2 down but even then the star did his trademark “Soto Shuffle.”
Soto revealed he wasn’t afraid of going down in strikes in his postgame interview. “I am not scared to be 0-2, I’m right there fighting every pitch,” Soto said. “I don’t mind if I can give you two strikes, I’ll be grinding the whole at-bat.” Earlier in the week, even Stephen A. Smith had praised Soto’s mindset.

So when the reporter asked Soto about his key to consistency, Soto shared it’s all about showing up every day. “Come every day, come to play every day. Doesn’t matter how it’s going, if it’s going good, (or) going bad, just come to the field every day, come to play,” Soto said.
So the key to consistency is just to be consistent. Instead of losing belief, it’s to just show up and fight the battle. That’s been the case with Soto throughout his career. Though, recently the Yankees star had a little scare after feeling some unease in his forearm. However, the Childish Bambino has revealed that he’s feeling better since his return.

When reminded of his 11-game streak, Juan Soto smiled and shared that he only aims to get on base to help his teammates. “I just try to be on barracks for the guy who’s hitting behind me and try to give the chance to the team to win a ballgame,” Soto said. However, the best update came regarding his recovery from the forearm issues. The superstar shared that things are moving smoothly for him.
“Today I make a couple throws and it was pretty good,” Soto said regarding his arm. “In the morning when I wake up and everything it’s really loosened up.” That’s certainly great news for the New York Yankees. After all, right now in Soto and Aaron Judge, they have two MVP-calibre players simultaneously firing on all cylinders. Losing that combo even for a few days isn’t something that they’d want to risk.
