Recently, Kevin Acee reported that Soto would be staying behind in camp for a few extra days while his Dominican Republic World Baseball Classic teammates flew to Florida to receive treatment on his left calf.

And although the sudden injury might actually exist, fans aren’t so sure about that explanation. The question on their mind is, could it be that Soto is actually staying behind to finalize a new contract extension with the Padres before he heads off to the WBC?
