Alex Rodriguez always readily shares his thoughts without hesitation. This habit has taken him through ups and downs several times, but he never stopped being frank about his opinions. From his PED scandal to his love life, the MLB legend never hesitated to speak about things openly in the media. The recent series between the Minnesota Twins and the Toronto Blue Jays has raised a controversy that has even put his broadcasting career in question.
As the ESPN hosts have been announced for the Twins series, fans have taken a negative stand, mostly towards the Yankees legend. This issue reached the point of criticism after the Twins won the first playoff game and broke their 19-year draught. While the previous issues haven’t yet been suppressed, the MLB icon again created controversy through his comments on Carlos Correa’s pick-off move.

After a prolonged playoff draught, The Twins have finally made a comeback. Yesterday, the team began their October campaign with two back-to-back wins. They beat the Blue Jays and won the series 2-0. While that’s a celebration, fans have been criticizing the ESPN analyst, Alex Rodriguez. During the Wednesday game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got picked off by Carlos Correa. However, the Yankees’ former slugger has analyzed it as a planned action between Correa and Gray. He highlighted the hat-touching action of Sonny Gray to establish his point, commenting, “The hat is the key.”

Well, there’s no solid evidence of the analysis, which again inflamed the criticism. Moreover, this is not the first time he has received criticism for commenting about players. A few months back, fans crushed A-Rod for commenting on Shohei Ohtani’s trade. He, at the time, suggested the Angles should trade him in exchange for “a bunch of draft picks”. Zooming in on the recent events, another interesting reason that may be behind the hate A-Rod received is the 2005 history with the Minnesota Twins.
Although the 2005 season wasn’t unfavorable for the team, Twins faced losses in the postseason games against the Yankees and endured their 19-year playoff curse. Notably, A-Rod was a member of the 2005 Yankees team. Consequently, when the situation reversed in subsequent years, with the Yankees missing the playoffs while the Twins secured consecutive victories, fans directed their frustration at the legendary player due to their prolonged disappointment.
A-Rod Got Taunts For His Broadcasting Skills
It is hard to be at the other end of criticism. Though the Yankees legend has gone through extremes in his life, he still often invites brutal comments for him. Much like the recent comment on the pickoff move.
For his recent Correa-Gray comment, fans called him a disgrace: “Aroid is a disgrace to the game”
Other fans call him a slime ball: “A Rod is a slime ball and Michael Kay is like nails on a chalkboard”

A fan even asked for his elimination: “All in favor of kicking A Rod off?”
Fans even question his intelligence: “ARod not smart enough to think of this. Someone must have said something to him.”

Regardless of the cause of the hate he’s receiving, the Yankees legend should be more careful with his words to avoid future issues in his broadcasting career.
