Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez were in the midst of their romance in 2018. The pop icon was set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. In an interview with TODAY, Rodriguez talked about the fact that this award meant so much to JLo. He stated that the pop icon had choked up, which was something that rarely happened.

In the interview, A-Rod said, “You know, Jennifer doesn’t really get excited much about these things. She’s so focused about what’s the job to do today. But this is one time where I saw her get choked up. It was such an emotional, such a great deal to celebrate over 25 years in her career. And the fact that it was named after Michael Jackson, someone who she idolizes, she’s super excited.”

This was just another example of how great the two of them were as a couple. Rodriguez was really there to support his girlfriend through her biggest moments. But unfortunately, the couple broke up in April 2021, shocking fans across the world.
