Baseball icon Alex Rodriguez had been at the rear end of the PEDs scandal, not once, but twice. Needless to say, both times have been pretty tough for the former athlete. Not only had A-Rod administered banned substances in his baseball career, but he also did not tell the truth about the situation. The former shortstop’s reformation journey, naturally was filled with many hurdles.
The 14x All-Star, however, overcame these obstacles and established himself as a renowned ex-athlete and businessman. A few years back, Rodriguez revealed the crucial role his family played in his redemption following the steroid scandals.

The highs in Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez’s career indeed overpowered the number of lows he suffered. No matter the direction of the current in Rodriguez’s career, his family stood by him. During both scandals, his daughters, ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, and mother stood strong for A-Rod. When the first time A-Rod took the banned substances, he did not accept to have willfully consumed anything.
It was, however, different the second time around. Back in 2014, when A-Rod was asked about taking steroids, he said yes. Then three years later, after looking at his PEDs scandal interviews, A-Rod spoke of how his family became the reason for his redemption. About his transformation, Alex said, “It’s not just about hitting home runs and winning games that matters. It’s how you behave in the clubhouse, how you behave out in the world. What kind of father and role model you are? I think I’ll be able to look back at the darkest moments of my life, which were those, and think that it’s one of the biggest blessings in my life as I move forward.”
It was also maybe because of his family that when Alex looked back at the interviews, he lied about steroids; he said that now he’ll handle them differently.
Alex was most ashamed to face his daughters!
In 2013, when A-Rod’s connection with the biogenesis scandal was released, he got the biggest suspension in MLB history. However, the only thing that irked him was his thinking of facing his daughters.
Alex had to face his girls and make them understand what was happening and how he was in the wrong. It was indeed a tough period in A-Rod’s life. At the same time, it was also a major turning point in his life. But in the end, it was his daughters who gave him the strength he needed to stand back up in the world.
