Whatever field one works in, friends in the industry are important. Luckily for Alex Rodriguez, he gets to co-own a team with one of them. The former pro baseballer officially hung up his uniform in 2016 for the final time and since then, he has spent his time expanding his investment firm. In addition to that, A-Rod also partly owns the NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves, whose ownership he shares with businessman Marc Lore. Although it’s a flourishing friendship today, it wasn’t always so for the Yankees legend.
It’s natural for anyone to hesitate or be nervous when meeting a potential business partner. And in a recent interview, Rodriguez revealed he’s just like the rest of us in that respect.
Alex Rodriguez wasn’t too excited to meet Marc Lore at first

Minnesota’s professional basketball teams would surely have looked different today had A-Rod and Lore not been a part of them. Although the pair has faced trouble with the team before, they have always stood together come rain or shine. The former Yankee recently discussed his first impression of Lore, a business magnate, and his future partner. Here is what he had to say.

“So we were introduced by a mutual friend and he was introduced to me as the Wal-Mart guy. And I was like, ‘Well, that’s great, but I’m not sure I really wanna meet the Wal-Mart guy.’ And when I met him, he was the exact opposite. But what’s great about Marc is that we have a lot of things in common,” Rodriguez said on an episode of Bloomberg Wealth with David Rubenstein.
He continued, “We’re both New Yorkers, we both come from single mothers, very strong mothers. Both have two daughters and everything – we’re very complementary instead of skills. Everything that I’m terrible at – and that’s a long list – he is incredible. And then, some of the experience that I have in sports over the last 30 years complement his set of skills.”

A-Rod could venture into MLB team ownership next
Rodriguez is a legendary name in the baseball world, so it wouldn’t be too outlandish for him to own an MLB team. After all, a lot of athletes do it in their respective sports. But after his failed bid to land the New York Mets, could he set his sights on the Oakland Athletics next?
